    • "Thanks to late contributions from supporters, Richie Farmer's 2007 campaign for agriculture commissioner ended with about $56,000 in the bank and since then has paid nearly that amount to Farmer or a new foundation that bears his name, a review of campaign records show. Half that amount, $28,000, was donated to the Richie Farmer Charitable Foundation Inc., which a director said was formed in April 2009 primarily to provide college scholarships. Another $9,750 was paid to Farmer, more than 15 months after the election, for 650 copies of his autobiography, which a campaign official said were given to supporters as gifts. The campaign also paid his cell phone bills, totaling $3,114, for an 18-month period after the election. And nearly $15,000 went to reimburse Farmer for travel and meals, even though he was reimbursed regularly during the campaign for such expenses, records show." [Courier-Journal]
