- "After a lengthy court hearing Monday in which six state workers testified about how the public would suffer under a plan to furlough state workers, a judge delayed ruling on a motion to block the unpaid leave. Franklin Circuit Court Judge Phillip Shepherd said he wanted more information on the state’s financial condition to see if the state could get by without the six days of furloughs that Gov. - "Buses have begun their early morning routes without any reports of major problems Tuesday morning, said Rick Caple, transportation director for Jefferson County Public Schools. Caple said there has been an occasional report of some students missing their bus or getting on the wrong bus and ending up at the wrong school, but he said that’s “normal” for the first day of school. Most buses also appear to be on time as of 7:30 a.m., but some may be running a few minutes late as drivers get accustomed to new routes on the first day.
