The 80-year-old pipe burst last Monday, releasing more than 40 million gallons of water into the University of Louisville’s Belnkap campus and the surrounding area. - "In the wake of a city agreement with Todd Blue that saves five of seven historic buildings he had planned to raze in the Whiskey Row section of West Main Street, the developer now plans to tear down another historic building complex on East Main. Known as the Elmo’s building for a bar that operated there several years ago, the three-section structure dating to the 1890s at 306, 308 and 310 East Main would be razed for surface parking, at least for now, next to a parking lot Blue owns at East Main and Floyd Street." - "Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will sign an executive order this morning that will extend health insurance benefits to the domestic partners of city employees. The change will go into effect on July 1, 2012. According to the Courier-Journal, the city’s Human Resources Department estimates that as many as 400 of the city’s 5,500 employees will take advantage of the benefits, which would cost about $400,000."
