Louisville Magazine launches a new look for itself in 2013

A new year means a new start, which is exactly what the publishers of Louisville Magazine had in mind for their January 2013 “Health & Fitness” issue, bestowing a new design upon the publication. To celebrate the first issue of the year with the new look, as well as the spring/summer 2013 edition of Louisville Bride, the first Louisville Magazine launch party was held within the Four Roses Bourbon Barrel Loft at the Bluegrass Brewing Company location on Third and Main from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Upon ascending the marble steps into the loft, guests could create name tags for themselves, then enter for a chance to win a one-year subscription to Louisville Magazine, an overnight stay at French Lick Resort, and a gift certificate for use at any of BBC’s three locations in Downtown Louisville and Saint Matthews. Free copies of both issues from Louisville Magazine and Louisville Bride were for the taking, along with free appetizers ranging from Bavarian pretzels and beer cheese to mini sliders, while drink specials were on hand to help ease attendees from their first real work day of the year.

As for what is inside both magazines, for the “Health & Fitness” January 2013 issue of Louisville Magazine – featuring a set of abs that live somewhere in Louisville instead of a stock photo gallery – readers will learn how the publication’s staff set out to walk the walk when it comes to pumping up, from editor Kane Webb’s year of Crossfit to Josh Moss’s hour at the barre, as well as where to go to get fit for themselves, especially since wedding season is fast approaching, which leads us to the bi-annual Louisville Bride. In this issue for the spring/summer 2013 season, brides and grooms can consider hiring one of our city’s food trucks for a reception, decide whether Peru or Nantucket (the latter written up by Louisville.com editor-in-chief Zach Everson) is the best honeymoon destination, take in personal wedding stories from three local couples, and so much more.

The next Louisville Magazine launch party will be held February 6, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse near Fourth and Main.
