While everyone in Louisville Saturday night will be enjoying Thunder Over Louisville this weekend (even if you aren't near the waterfront, you'll still hear it), it's just the biggest (and loudest) of many great events slated for The Ville this weekend.
Louisville Loves Mountains Festival 2009
April 17, 4 to 10 p.m.
Longest Ave. at Bardstown Road
Conservative organizations the Jefferson County Chapter of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, Heine Brothers' Coffee and Carmichael's Bookstore are behind this evening "celebrating our Kentucky mountains with a number of local musicians and Kentucky authors." And because "more people will come if they think we have punch and pie," Heine Brothers', Bluegrass Brewing Company and Ramsi's Café on the World are providing food and drink. Finnigan's Festival of Funky Fresh Fun
April 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25, 7:30 p.m.

The second annual Finnigan’s Festival of Funky Fresh Fun featuring 11 new plays by local playwrights begins Saturday night. Tickets are $12. Call (502) 636-1311 for reservations.
Riverside Plant and Garden Sale

April 19, 12 to 3 p.m.

With Louisville's abundant parks, I'm not sure why you'd buy plants or flowers when you can just pick them for free. But if you're looking to inject money into the economy, the Riverside Plant and Garden Sale has "annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, seeds and more for your home garden."
AT&T Derby Festival Volleyball Classic
April 18 and 19, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Do volleyball games tip off, kick off or just start? Regardless, the country's largest outdoor volleyball tournament begins this weekend in Louisville. You'll see some great players as well as some who have a better chance of pulling their groin than spiking a teammate's dig. Either way, you'll be entertained. Admission is a Pegasus Pin.
Warehouse Wine Sale
April 19, 1 to 7 p.m.

This sale is a must if you're having a Derby party. Or if you're a wine aficionado. Or if you're trying to become a boxcar hobo. Party Mart claims this event is the "biggest wine sale since prohibition in Louisville." While I'm not sure how much research went into that claim, the only fact I care about is that wines will be 30 to 75 percent off.
