Between now and early April, music fans in Louisville will have the chance to see some of the biggest names on tour today: Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Pink, Matchbox 20, Bon Jovi and many others. It’s a great time for live music, but if you think you might have missed the opportunity to see some of your favorite groups, tickets are still available for many of those shows.
The Louisville Palace has a number of well-known artists or bands in concert. The list includes Matchbox 20, Daughtry & Three Doors Down, Ed Sheeran, Leonard Cohen, Widespread Panic, and others.
So far, Matchbox Twenty and Ed Sheeran are the only sold-out shows.
Interestingly enough, Sheeran, who headlines his own show at the Palace February 1st, will be back in Louisville to open for Taylor Swift for her concert at the KFC Yum! Center in May. Her show is sold out, too. It’s one of only three shows at the Yum! Center that have sold out, so far.
The first is One Direction (June 16th) and the other is country singer/songwriter Luke Bryan’s set for February 22nd. Bryan spent the past few years opening for bigger acts like Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw, and this year gets a headline tour of his own. If there were any doubts about his star power before, there aren't anymore. Promoters say concerts in all 21 cities that are part of the first leg of his tour have sold out. Go Luke Bryan.
Headliners Music Hall also has a long list of groups on its calendar in the months ahead. And while Black Veiled Brides on February 19th is the only show that has sold out so far, three or four more are expected to be added to the list soon. They have a number of popular groups like They Might Be Giants on their concert schedule.
The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts has Chris Botti, Matisyahu: An Acoustic Evening, Buddy Guy, and Josh Ritter among its upcoming list of performers. (Many of those shows take place in the Brown Theatre.) Tickets are still available for all shows.
So, if you have an interest in live music, you still have a chance to see some of your all-time favorites right here in Louisville. In fact, it’s almost hard to believe that Fleetwood Mac or The Who or Pink or Kid Rock aren’t sold out shows. If these are groups you’ve always wanted to see perform live – wait no longer. They’re only a ticket away.
