When most people think about Louisville or the state of Kentucky and sports, their first thought goes directly to the intense basketball rivalry between the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky.  However, in Louisville, there is a deep history rooted in baseball, extending beyond the manufacturing of the world renowned Louisville Slugger baseball bats.  Tonight at Carmichaels on Franfort Avenue (2720 Frankfort Ave, www.carmichaelsbookstore.com), author Philip von Borries will discuss Louisville's baseball history and his new book, The Louisville Baseball Alamanac.  A great event for any sports fan, you can learn about well known players like Pee Wee Reese and great baseball milestones, like winning a pennant in 1890, that have Louisville roots.  The discussion will be from 7:00pm - 8:30pm.  Stop by and learn about America's favorite pasttime and its history in our great city.
