Lewis Black, comedic icon of the 21st century, will warm up Louisville with his performance at the Palace Theatre this Friday.
Black, best known for his ranting comedy, earned his first big break on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, where he had a long and illustrious run, beginning in 1996. Since then, Black has been seen in multiple HBO specials, and at least nine stand-up specials. He continues to make the rounds of the late-night television circuits. Black didn’t start stand up until he was in his 40’s, giving him the opportunity to flesh out a successful career and travel the world.
In addition to his award-winning work as a comedian (Black has been nominated for an Emmy and five Grammys, winning two of the latter), Lewis Black is an author, playwright and actor. He has written over 40 plays, authored three books, and co-starred with Robin Williams in 2006’s Man of the Year.
Lewis Black, the Rant is Due, Part Deux is, according to Black, 98 percent new material, largely recounting his summer tour through Europe. Black will perform Friday, February 20th at 8pm at the Palace Theatre. Tickets start at $39 and are available online.
