Louisville loves their local music scene and one of the hidden semi-underground gems within the community is a brilliant musician named Ray Rizzo.  Rizzo, a Louisvillian who now resides in New York City, has recently formed several new projects that are headed back to Louisville for a few show dates.  One of those projects, the interestingly named Mesiko, has just been added to this weekend’s local Lebowski Festival.  Mesiko, who has only announced their style of music to be true country, raw with funky howling, will open up this year’s 11th annual Louisville Lebowski Festival, a local weekend celebration shedding light on The Big Lebowski, one of today’s biggest cult classic films produced by legendary duo the Coen Brothers.

Mesiko includes Louisville natives Ray Rizzo and Chris “Roadie” Rodahaffer, also of Slow Charleston, as well as New York City multi-instrumentalist front woman Raquel Bell and lead guitarist David Marshall.   The foursome kicks off the Lebowski Fest Friday at 8:25 pm on the Executive Lawn just before the “circus punk marching band,” Mucca Pazza and will also perform just before the midnight showing of The Big Lebowski.  Mesiko will also play during brunch at 11 am at Hillbilly Tea before they hit the road for shows in Ohio and New York City.

Admission to the Lebowski Festival , which takes place at 911 Phillips Lane on the Executive Lawn and Executive Strike and Spare, is 45$ for a complete weekend pass.  However, patrons can also buy admission to the Movie Party Friday night for 10$ in advance or 12$ the day of, or a separate entrance cost to the Garden and Bowling Parties.  Each party is separate but is part of the entire event that runs all weekend starting Friday night.
