    Learn to spell...

Albert Einstein was reportedly a terrible speller.  I often lean on this factoid to rationalize my own mediocre spelling.  The kids participating this weekend at the Derby Festival Spelling Bee Finals obviously cannot relate to Einsten in the way that I can...or can they?  Come watch students from across Kentuckiana and Southern Indiana battle it out as they spelling insanely hard words.  The spelling bee will be held this Saturday, March 20th at 11 am at the Franzier International History Museum.  The winner will get a $10,000 savings bond and bragging rights that they can probably spell "superciliousness" without dictionary.com.

    Support the symphony...

This Sunday, March 21st, the Louisville Youth Orchestra's Symphony Orchestra will present the performance "In a Land Far, Far Away.." as part of its 51st season.  The performance will begin at 4 pm at The Brown Theater.  Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for Seniors, $5 for students and are free for non-school age kids.  Purchase tickets by calling (502) 583-7777.

    See some dogs...

My pick for this weekend is the 2010 Kentuckiana Cluster All Breed Dog Show.  Jack loves all dogs, so I'm sure he will love this event.  It actually started yesterday, but runs through this Sunday at the Kentucky Exposition Center.  The show (which is hosted by Louisville Kennel Club) will also feature vendors selling dog-related items and three different kennels hosting the type of obedience training my own dog, Noodles sadly never received.  Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for kids under twelve and Seniors and is free for children under three.  And if you bring two cans of food for Kentucky Harvest, you'll get a dollar off of admission!
