Going into Labor Day, so many think of it as the last breath of summer, well regardless of how you look at the weekend there are plenty of good summer sports opportunities around town that should provide you with a proper way to send off the season.
These start with the BMX Eastern Division Finals, which will run at Tom Sawyer park from Today through to Sunday. BMX Racing has always had a close relationship with the Derby City, and this is a highly prestigious event in the BMX community, what this means is that this is set to be a lot of fun for everybody that comes out to it.
Meanwhile, the Bats are set to close out their regular season in a home stand at Slugger Park against Indianapolis on Sunday and Monday, Sunday the game is set for a start time at 6:05, while Sunday’s game will open at 1:05. The Bats will be attempting to finish strong after a relatively shaky season this year.
Dance fans can come out to the Iroquois Amphitheatre on Saturday for a performance of the University of Louisville Dance Theater at 8.
Speaking of the Cards, in a season opener looked forward to by many, the Louisville football team will kick off their 2013 season against Ohio, Sunday at 3:30 at Papa John’s. Many will remember that Louisville is coming off an upset victory against Florida in the Sugar Bowl last season, and this will be the Cards’ only season in the AAC prior to officially being in the ACC.
Switching gears, Monday marks the Louisville Slugger Museum’s final day of the “Big Leagues, Little Bricks” exhibition, which has been displaying amazing baseball replicas made with Legos since March.
