School is back in session! The University of Louisville’s Floyd Theater kicks off the spring semester tonight with a screening of the film “The Devil’s Double.”
The Floyd Theater is a fantastic and under-utilized resource for film lovers on a budget. Throughout the school year, the Floyd shows a different movie or two every week, screening everything from current blockbusters to obscure independent films. Tickets are only $1.50 for U of L students and $3.00 for the general public. (Concessions are even available for purchase, for much more reasonable pricing than at a commercial theater; no gouging here.)
Tonight’s film, “The Devil’s Double,” is the true story of Latif Yahia, who was forced to become the body double of Saddam Hussein’s son, Uday. Dominic Cooper (“An Education,” “Captain America”) plays both Latif and Uday, and the film is directed by Lee Tamahori, known most recently for the films “Next” and “Die Another Day.”
The film shows at 5:00 this evening, and again at 8:00. The Floyd Theater is located on the third floor of the Student Activities Center on the U of L campus. More information can be found at the film’s Facebook event page.
