One of the world's greatest equestrian venues, The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, is hosting two of the most prestigious equestrian events in the world on April 26-29, 2012. The Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event and the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup will be held simultaneously at the state of the art KHP facilities.
The Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event is the only four star three day event held in this country and is being used as an Olympic selection trial by the United States for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The top eventing riders and horses from around the world will be competing in the three phases of eventing: Dressage, Cross Country, Show Jumping. These horses and riders are incredible athletes and must be able to perform at the highest level in all three phases in order to be competitive.
The Kentucky Reining Cup held its first inaugural event last year and is returning again in 2012 to the KHP. The top reiners from around the world will be competing. This is the only three star reining competition in the world scheduled for 2012 and is a qualifier for the FEI World Reining Championships. Reining's popularity exploded after being the only western event included in the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games held at the KHP. Watching these superbly well trained horses in action spinning, sliding, and doing roll backs on their haunches is an amazing sight. This is the first western discipline on the fast track to be eventually included in the Olympics.
If you were awed at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington be prepared to be so again. Those amazing world class reining and eventing horses will be returning to spin, slide, and jump into our hearts once again.
