    Kentucky Kingdom

Whenever I drive past the old Kentucky Kingdom it is a constant reminder of yet another thing that big cities have that Kentucky lacks. You use to be able to ride the rides all day long and spend ridiculous amounts of money at the park. But in 2009 Kentucky Kingdom closed its doors, after a ton of ride breakdowns, low attendance, and financial issues, the park now sits as an abandoned eye sore.

But recently the park has been the center of a major debate. The Kentucky State Fair board approved a leasing agreement with Kentucky Kingdom in which the park may be open as early as Spring of 2014. This will be huge for Louisville. Reopening the park will create new jobs, boost tourism and put us on par with other big cities.

Obviously a lot of money will be needed to rejuvenate the park and an additional $25 million must be secured from private loans before the park can open its doors, on top of the $45 million investors have pledged.

Rebuilding and renovations could start as early as February!
