According to the countdown clock on their website, Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay is set to open in 186 days, on May 24, 2014.

Price for a season pass to Kentucky Kingdom (which includes $1 32oz soft drinks and 20% food and merchandise) will cost $59.95. According to the Courier-Journal, Holiday World's season passes start at $99.95, and King's Island season passes will set you back $84.00.

The cheaper admission isn't all that will draw Louisvillians to Kentucky Kingdom; drive time to Holiday World from downtown Louisville is an hour and 15 minutes; drive time to King's Island from downtown Louisville is an hour and 53 minutes.

Kentucky Kingdom has been closed since 2010, when Six Flags declared corporate bankruptcy. After negotiations with the Koch family (of Holiday World) failed to come to fruition, the park was turned over to Ed Hart and Themeparks LLC. Hart had previously operated the park from 1989 to 1997.

The new Kentucky Kingdom will open with many new attractions, including a sea lion show. Check out more in depth discussion of the new attractions offered here. Season passes can be purchased on Kentucky Kingdom's website.
