Sean Woods has probably often thought about what it would be like to return to Rupp Arena as the head coach of the opposing team, it's doubtful he envisioned this scenario. After saying that he "didn't like the vibe" of the Kentucky players during a telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy and criticizing them for being entitled and not knowing the history of UK basketball, Woods is sure to receive less than a hero's welcome Wednesday night at 7:00 when he brings his Morehead St. Eagles (3-1) in to face the #7 Wildcats (2-1).
Woods, who made his remarks during a weekly teleconference Monday, has spent the week walking them back. He almost immediately took to Twitter to clarify that his comments were about young players in general, and professed his love for the University of Kentucky and what coach John Calipari has done with the program. He followed that up by apologizing to Kyle Tucker Tuesday night during his team's practice at Rupp. For their part, Calipari and the players seemed to shrug off the comments as nothing more than a misstatement. Nevertheless, the Rupp faithful will be sure to let this UK legend know what they think of his comments.
