    Bit to Do

    Jimmy Russell at Haymarket

In case you missed this story last week. Jimmy Russell is celebrating his 60th Anniversary at Wild Turkey.  He’s currently their Master Distiller, and the sole remaining member of what Fred Noe refers to as the “Elder Statesmen” of the Bourbon Industry.  This time he will be at Haymarket Whiskey Bar’s Distiller’s Night to answer your questions and sign your bottles.

You might remember the series I did a while back on becoming a Citizen Bourbon Ambassador.  One of the things I recommended doing was getting out to these events and meeting the Master Distillers.  You can glean a tremendous amount of information from these great people just by being around them.  And Jimmy Russell always seems to have a fun story or two to share.  I hear something different every time I’m around him.

This event has the added bonus of being held at Haymarket, one of my absolute favorite places to drink bourbon.  The owner, Matthew Landan, also offers bourbon tasting classes by appointment throughout the week.  He really knows bourbon.

Haymarket is located at 331 E Market Street in NuLu.  This event is March 17 at 9 p.m. and there’s no cover charge.
