Jefferson Memorial Forest staff invites dogs (and their humans) to enjoy the forest for an evening romp Friday, August 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Hikers and their canine companions will need to meet up at the Horine Reservation. The fee for joining the group is $6 per dog, but each dog will receive samples of Milkbone Trail Mix while quantities last.
Forest staff will lead the group on a guided tour of the woods. Trails at the Horine Reservation are known for their hills and can be mild-to-strenuous. The shortest trail in this section of the forest is 1.2 miles.
It’s important to be mindful that other dogs will be on the trail, so updated vaccinations, good behavior, and non-retractable leashes are required. For the humans, closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
Jefferson Memorial Forest offers a wide array of programs for all ages. More information about this and other walks can be found on their website. To make a reservation, or for more information, call the Welcome Center at 502-368-5404.
