The Male High School football team isn’t just clobbering the competition so far this season, the Bulldogs are mauling their opponents.

Male has outscored its first foe foes 148-16 - an astounding average of 44 points per win. The Bulldogs lead Class 6-A, the state’s largest classification, in scoring margin, scoring defense, rushing defense and passing defense after three weeks. They also lead Louisville.com’s Jefferson County Power Rankings for the second straight week.

Here’s a quick look at our Top 10:

    1. Male (3-0) - The Bulldogs, who are also second in 6-A in scoring and passing, flogged 4-A Fairdale 56-6 last Friday. They’ll look to pick up where they left off this Friday night, when they play at winless Jeffersontown. Last week’s ranking: 1.

    2. St. Xavier (2-1) - The Tigers gave host Bowling Green, the three-time reigning Class 5-A state champ, all it wanted before falling 6-0 in overtime last Friday. St. X, which is second in 6-A in scoring defense and rushing defense (behind Male in both categories), looks to rebound Friday night, when it hosts Fairdale (0-2). Last week: 2.

    3. Trinity (1-2) - The Shamrocks finally got rolling last Friday, blasting Imhotep Charter School (Penn.) 30-6. They continue their difficult pre-district, out-of-state schedule at Colerain (Ohio) on Friday night. Last week: 3.

    4. DeSales (3-0) - The 2-A Colts wallopped 5-A Warren Central 37-12 last Friday to run their winning streak to 10 straight games. DeSales will look to continue its recent dominance Friday night against winless Washington County. Last week: 6.

    5. Pleasure Ridge Park (2-1) - The Panthers got pounded 55-27 by reigning 6-A state champ Scott County last Friday in Georgetown. They’ll try to bounce back when they host No. 8 Manual in the city’s biggest game Friday night. Last week: 4.

    6. Christian Academy of Louisville (3-0) - The 2-A Centurions won their second straight game against a larger school, beating 4-A North Oldham 24-21 on Tanner Young’s late touchdown pass last Friday. CAL hosts Thomas Nelson (2-1) this Friday. Last week: 7.

    7. Manual (2-0) - The Crimsons didn’t play last week, but they suffered a gigantic loss, losing star running back Michael Nero for the season due to an ACL injury. We’ll see how Manual bounces back from that setback Friday night, when it hosts No. 5 PRP. Last week: 5.

    8. Seneca (2-0) - The Redhawks downed Doss 19-2 last Friday to follow up Week 1’s win over John Hardin. They host Fern Creek (0-1), which hasn’t played since its season-opening loss to Manual, on Friday night. Last week: 10.

    9. Central (1-2) - The Yellowjackets picked up their first victory of the season last Friday night, when they obliterated 6-A Eastern 38-0. They’ll try to carry that momentum over to this Friday night, when they travel to winless Doss. Last week: 9.

    10. Iroquois (3-0) - The 5-A Raiders are off to their best start in at least 15 years after beating Valley 28-12 last Friday. They’ll try to keep it going Friday night in their home opener against 6-A Southern (2-1). Last week: unranked.
