This is, quite possibly, the biggest month of the year for theatre in Louisville.

Because this is the month of the Humana Festival.

And the 2015 Humana Festival opens this week. It’s the 39th year for the annual festival, hosted by Actors Theatre in downtown Louisville, but attended by theatre professionals, critics, connoisseurs and fans the world over.

The world premiere of The Roommate takes the first slot at the Festival this year, opening Wednesday, March 4. The play, by Jen Silverman, is a comedy which pits Sharon, a newly-divorced Iowan, side by side with Robyn, a ‘vegan from the Bronx’ and Sharon’s new roommate, who she took in to help make ends meet. “Their sensibilities are humorously mismatched, but turning over a new leaf can have unintended consequences.”

The Roommate, directed by Mike Donahue and featuring Margaret Daly and Tasha Lawrence, runs through April 12. Tickets for the production, and for all Humana offerings, can be purchased individually or through multi-show packages online or by calling the Actors Theatre box office at 502.584.1205.
