It seems as if being sun-kissed is a popular goal among both men and women.  There are safe ways to be golden bronze without looking like you should be cast in the Jersey Shore.  If you are going to expose yourself to UV rays naturally or in tanning beds, like all good things i.e. shopping, drinking or eating ice cream…moderation is the key.  While tanning al fresco, make sure your lotion has an element of SPF along with a bronzing agent.  Try to avoid soaking up rays between 10am-2pm when the sun is strongest.  The other key element to summer skin care along with SPF is to moisturize and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Given all of the sunless tanning products out there, no matter what your skin type, you too can achieve the glow of a bronzed god or goddess.  Unless your beauty regimen is to speed up the signs of aging – yes I’m talking about you “Tan Mom” – use SPF daily.  Chic Geek did its own consumer report and found Tan Towels to be its favorite sunless tanning product on the market.  Tan Towels create a natural-looking glow within 2-4 hours, does not rub off on your clothes, and does not leave you with the telltale fake tanner scent.  Instead, they are laced with a pleasant citrus fragrance that does not leave you smelling like a Snooki wannabe, our favorite Jersey Shore lady…I use that term loosely.  (No pun intended.)

Before applying Tan Towels make sure to exfoliate your skin to prime it and wipe your eyebrows with a wet wipe to avoid any potential staining.  Also for best results, take a light lotion and rub it in on and between your toes, fingers, elbows and knees.  This will stop those pesky orange creases from developing which are a dead giveaway that you faking it.

We aren’t expecting to cure anyone of his or her tan-orexia, but this is a healthier alternative to achieving a sun-kissed look.  While in the sun, by all means, at least protect your skin from UV rays.  With these extreme temperatures, sunscreen should be just as essential in your tote as lip-gloss.  Same goes for the dudes…those farmer’s tans aren’t en vogue and never will be.  If you accidentally forget to apply sun block, the Tan Towel is a great way to even out.

Head to Dillard’s at The Mall St. Matthews to pick up this summer essential today.  I love wearing Versace, but I would never want to wear Donatella’s skin.

    Fashionably Yours,

    Chic Geek
