Holiday beauty trends are essential to compliment any fashion forward outfit. The beauty trends you should incorporate into your look are the smoky eye, red lip, side braid or the top-knot bun.

The smoky eye can be made very festive with a variety of colors. Greens would be perfect for Christmas, by putting a light green on the brow bone, the next darkest on the lid, then the darkest green in the crease. For New Year’s Eve or a more generalized holiday look blues would look great. A dark navy in the crease, light blue on the lid and a shimmer almost silver color on the brow bone would make a fabulous smoky eye.

A red lip is not difficult to pull off, but some people are afraid to take the chance. The key is not to have any other dramatic makeup on your face to compete with the red lip. Keep the face very simple with foundation and concealer, mascara would go well with the look, but skip out on any dramatic eyeshadows and bronzers.

The side braid is very simple. If you can french braid, start at the top of your head and braid it all of the way down to one side of your head. Then use hairspray to keep the hair in place, afterwards if it is too boring, tease the top of your head with a comb.

Lately, the top-knot bun has become the hottest hairstyle on the runways, celebrities and people everywhere. This hairstyle can be done with wet or dry hair. Put your hair up like you are going to wear a ponytail, then twist it around and place a hair tie. Use bobby pins to pin any loose pieces of the hair.

These four beauty trends will help update any look for the holiday season. The best stores to find the supplies for the beauty trends are Dillard’s and Bare Minerals in the St. Matthews Mall. Sephora and Macy’s in the Oxmoor Mall has a lot of beauty options. Check back tomorrow for the products to achieve these looks.
