Freeze your tailfins off at Thunder last weekend, or stay home entirely? There’s still a chance to see some cool new aircraft at the University of Louisville’s first solar flight competition this coming Friday, April 22 at the field at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.

Six Speed School of Engineering student teams have worked with faculty mentors for months to produce scale aircraft powered by solar energy, and the Conn Center for Renewable Energy Research is hosting the competition, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (The event was rescheduled from the March 5 Engineering Expo because of rain.) In case of rain on Friday, contest organizers will try again the following Friday, April 29; the decision will be made by noon on Thursday. For more information, call Andrew Marsh at 852-8597 or visit www.conncenter.org.
