When I arrived at the Gallery, the celebration had started and art lovers, who had already scanned the paintings, sculptures, basket weaving and various other exhibits were finding seats in the Gardens to enjoy a glass of wine, slice of cake of fruit stick. The Gallery inside however was full of patrons coming and going, talking to artist and enjoying the delightful array of foods that Tom Schneph, business partner of Billy Hertz, catered for the day.  There was a fruit bouquet courtesy of Edible Fruit in St. Matthews.

The first person I spoke with upon arriving was musician Charles Rivera. Mr. Rivera plays guitar and has been playing for 2 years at Gallery Hertz. He also plays at the Tim Faulkner Gallery either solo or with a trio.

The paintings and photography at Gallery Hertz are abstract, found objects and realism. A few of the ones that caught my eye are the Righteous Man by Tom Pfannerstill, made of manipulated cast hydrocal,; Philip Jackson’s oil painting, Broken; Abstracts by Russ Vogt; and Jim Ferringer’s  photograph, “Don’t Even Know Myself. ”

As I was leaving the Gallery, I found out that Billy Hertz will be having an art exhibition of his own soon. The showing will be at the Trifecta Gallery in Las Vegas Nevada on October 6, 2011.

Gallery Hertz is at 1253 S. Preston
