    Bit to Do

How do I love thee, Heartland Music Together? Let me count the ways. I have been following Heartland Music Together for over ten years. I first discovered the music program for youngsters when I worked at the Middletown Library, and kept in contact with director Miriam Klein after I moved to the Jeffersontown Library. Ms. Klein is a lover of music sharing. It is her ultimate passion to see little people and the adults in their lives having fun with music. That is, at its most simple form, what Heartland Music Together is all about.

I began bringing my youngest child to a Heartland Music class when he was just 5 months old. We enrolled in the first babies-only class that is held at Babyology and I could not have been happier with our enriching experience. Now, he is 19 months old and we are eagerly anticipating our first “Littles” class that is designed especially for children under age 2.

The Spring 2013 semester classes start Monday, April 1. There is still time to enroll in a few of the class locations, which are held in Middletown, Highlands, Fern Creek, St. Matthews, and Westport Rd areas. And although many people may be away on vacation for spring break, classes missed this first week will be made up at the end of the semester. Most semesters run for 10 weeks with a 45 minute long class once a week. Classes are designed for children between the ages of birth to 7 years. There are weekday classes, as well as options for working parents on Saturdays and evenings.

A new opportunity has also arisen between Heartland Music Together and Down Syndrome of Louisville. The supportive family classes will be held on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am and 10:30am at the newly opened center. Classes begin April 9 and will run for 9 weeks.

Class tuition starts at $130 for babies-only classes. The tuition covers your music class time, as well as two music cds along with a beautiful songbook to share with your child. There is a tuition assistance program, refer-a-friend discount, and other coupon options available through the website and newsletter sign-up. Call or register online today to reserve you and your child’s spot for this spring’s merry-making adventure!

You can contact Heartland Music Together in a variety of ways: by phone at 502-491-3131, by email at info@heartlandmusictogether.com, or on their Facebook page.
