Louisville is just Southern enough to appreciate a good gravy: red eye, sausage, sage, vegetarian, whatever. The Second Annual Gravy cup is a gravy competition, and if you're a lover of biscuits and gravy, it's a must-attend.

The Second Annual Gravy Cup is being held February 16, 2014 from Noon to 4 p.m. at the Vernon Club. Event-goers will get a chance to taste and vote on their favorite gravy, and music will be provided by 91.9 WFPK's Woody's Roadhouse DJ Woody Chancy. Last year, the first Gravy Cup was held at the Monkey Wrench and over 500 attended, so get your tickets early!

There are two classes (professionals and home cooks) and two categories (traditional sausage roux and non-traditional, which could be red-eye, vegetarian, or some other creative option). The judges panel will choose winners, and there will be a people's choice award. Think you've got the best gravy around? Enter on the Gravy Cup's website!

You can buy tickets online or at Vernon Lanes, The Monkey Wrench and Cellar Door Chocolates. The proceeds from The Gravy Cup benefit Boys and Girls Haven. Follow The Gravy Cup on twitter and RSVP on the Facebook event.
