    October 16, 2010 marks the first annual Gonzo Fest at Monkey Wrench (1025 Barrett Ave).

     

    From noon to midnight

    come and join a tribute to the life, work and legacy of one of the most fearless writers of all time, Louisville’s own native, Hunter S. Thompson.

    According to Monkey Wrench owner Dennie Humphrey “This will be a celebration featuring some of the best local bands, musicians, singers, poets, authors, visual artists and more. Live music entertainment includes The Galoots, The Commonwealth, Workers, The Fervor, Brigid Kaelin, Tyrone Cotton, Siegel, Your News Vehicle, GNUMA, Scott Carney of Wax Fang and more artists to be announced. Music, food and festivities will start at noon. We will also be featuring all Flying Dog Ales on draft, including the Gonzo Imperial Porter as well as some pub exclusives and casks.”

    Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 the day of the event.

    A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Gonzo Foundation and a local high school creative writer for a scholarship grant. A Hunter S. Thompson mural will be unveiled during the Gonzo Fest, created by Louisville’s own Andy Cook, Carol McLeod, Evan Leibowitz and Alexander King. Gonzo works, Resistance Art and Hunter memorabilia will be available. There will be a Hunter S. Thompson look-a-like contest as well.
