    Moulin Rouge at the Speed
    Print this page

Everybody knows that France is for lovers and since this city is named after King Louis XVI, we can declare that Louisville is too. At least for this Valentine’s weekend. The Speed Museum is helping to heat things up by hosting two events that will have your significant other saying “Oui, oui.”

scene from the movie Moulin Rouge

    Friday, Feb. 10th, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
The award-winning musical Moulin Rouge by director Baz Huhrmann will be shown in the auditorium. This movie captures the infamous Parisian cabaret in beautiful detail. Colors so rich you’ll think you’re inside one of the paintings from the museum’s new exhibit Renoir to Chagall: Paris and the Allure of Color. Snack on complimentary popcorn and have a drink from the cash bar while enjoying the film. Bar opens at 6:30p, film starts at 7:30p. Included with admission to the Museum.

Jean-Louis Forain, Woman in a Cafe

    Sunday, Feb. 12th, 1-4 p.m.
Enjoy the exhibition Renoir to Chagall: Paris and the Allure of Color as the Speed showers you with sweets. Baked goods from the stellar bakeries Cake Flour and Ermin's are complimentary and you can enjoy a glass of champagne from the cash bar. Docents will be available to guide you on a tour of the romantic works from the collection.

Admission is $10 for members / $20 for non-members. Admission includes ticket to Renoir to Chagall: Paris and the Allure of Color.

The Speed Art Museum, 2035 S. Third Street, 502.634.2700.

I’m originally from Ohio, but have been a Louisvillian for half my life. I divide my time between hubby, 3 kids, too many pets, and the 930 Art Center. When I'm not, you'll find me running the trails in Cherokee or Jefferson Memorial Forest.
