The Bacon Ball is a bacon themed evening, where bunches of Louisville restaurants and food providers gather and make food incorporating everyone's favorite food to compete for "best of" categories! This year, the Louisville Visual Arts Association is throwing the bash on May 18, from 7 to 11 pm, at Oxmoor farm. If you're lucky enough to get a ticket (and today's your lucky day!) you get to swan around and sample ALL THE BACON THINGS, cast your vote for people's choice, drink a little, listen to some awesome local bands, and bask like a strip of bacon sizzling in a frying pan with lots of other happy little bacon strips. Okay, not the best simile, but I tried.

While full admission is definitely worth it, (details here) right now Groupon is giving you the chance to get your ticket to the Bacon Ball months early (and last year about 1200 people showed up, so chances are you're better off getting tickets early!) for $20.00! You can purchase the Groupon here. Last year's Bacon Ball was truly phenomenal, the standouts of the evenings were Hammerhead's pork belly French toast, the Comfy Cow's bacon brittle ice cream, and Zanzabar's bacon burgers with tobacco onions. I stuffed myself stupid and I'm not sorry, it was a night to remember. There was an air of zesty excitement. The band was great, the DJ was passable, the food was out of this world. Maker's was flowing, bacon was crackling, we were all young and pretty and alive and excited. This year we are slightly less young, but much prettier, and much more excited.

Proceeds from the Bacon Ball benefit the Children's Fine Art Class program, and the the Open Doors Program, which works to give art and enrichment classes to at risk youth, victims of domestic abuse, senior citizens, and more.

    **EDIT**

The Groupon is now sold out--that must be some kind of record! But you can purchase tickets here!
