Last week a friend of mine told me about a new breakfast venue called SuperChefs claiming it was some of the best breakfast food he's had in town! Later that day, I found a flyer on the sidewalk for Superchefs. It was destiny. I had to visit.

This past weekend, my husband and I woke up early on a Saturday to see if SuperChefs really was as good as we'd heard.  It was.

SuperChefs is located on Brownsboro Road behind Mexico Viejo in the Chicago Gyros restaurant.  If you don't know to go there, you'd probably drive right past it.  The room is small with only about 8 tables and a bar but the place was full when we arrived. The multitude of windows keep the room sunny and bright and the friendly staff add to the warm atmosphere.

My husband and I started off with coffee (which came in giant mugs) while we contemplated what to order. We finally decided on the red velvet pancakes with a side of Candied Bacon and the Candied Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich with a side of Hash Browns.  The pancakes came stacked with layers of whipped cream cheese in between and dusted with powdered sugar. It was decadent but totally worth it. My sandwich came topped with mixed greens on a pretzel croissant.  A pretzel croissant! My two favorite breads in one! I had never heard of such a thing before! The hash browns were so crispy and had the most amazing butter compote on top which added a little sweetness and spice to each bite.

Much of the food is locally sourced adding just another reason why this is in my top three of breakfast venues.  My husband and I are planning to go back soon to try the Granola Encrusted French Toast, House-made sausage and Roasted Red Pepper Grits.  Having only been open since May, SuperChefs is already making a name for themselves in the Louisville food scene.

SuperChefs is made up of Chef Darnell Ferguson and business partner Ryan Bryson. Ferguson's experience includes Proof on Main Nappa River Grill, the Seelbach Hotel as well as chef for the 2008 USA Olympic team.

On July 5, SuperChefs opened their second location inside of Seafood Connection. 3941 Chenoweth Square.

SuperChefs on Brownsboro Road is open Wednesday-Friday 6:30AM-11AM, Saturday 6:30AM-Noon, and Sunday 6:30AM-3:00PM.
