Margie Samuels, Matron of Maker’s Mark, was inducted into the Bourbon Hall Of Fame this week.  She’s the only inductee this year.  Samuels was responsible for the design of Maker’s Mark’s distinctive packaging as well as many other aspects of the distillery.  Read more about Samuels on Fred Minnick’s blog here.  Check out the interactive infographic about Samuels on Marker's Mark's website, too.

Art Eatables is a finalist in this year’s Martha Stewart American Made contest.  According to owner Kelly Ramsey, “I wanted to create a bourbon candy for people who didn't like bourbon. I picked chocolates that accented the bourbon flavor, without being overwhelmed by it, or dominating it. When I took them to a cookout and friends could identify the bourbons used, I knew I had something fairly unique, and have expanded to over 50 bourbons, plus moonshines and other spirits.”  Support this Louisville original by voting here

In other Art Eatables news, a small selection of their candies is now available on Amazon.  Click here to check it out and send some to your out-of-town relatives.  After all, who doesn’t love getting chocolate in the mail?

James Beauregard Beam, otherwise known as Jim Beam, was honored with a statue in front of the American Still House yesterday on what would have been his 150th birthday.  Read more about that here.

The Bulleit Experience at Stitzel-Weller was officially opened this week and is the 9th and newest stop on The Kentucky Bourbon Trail.  Diageo also announced distillation will begin there again by Derby Day 2015.  Read more here.

Two awesome Louisville bars, Down One Bourbon Bar and El Camino, are in the running for Food And Wine Magazine’s People’s Best New Bar.  You can support either of these awesome and unique Louisville establishments by voting here.

Diageo North America, parent company of Bulleit and owner of Stitzel-Weller, has been named one of Working Mother Magazine’s top “100 Best Companies For Working Mothers”.  Diageo offers new mothers 10 weeks paid maternity leave and an additional 8 unpaid maternity leave as well as multiple other parental benefits.  Cheers to this company for doing their best to support working families.  Read more here.
