Louisville has always positioned itself as a city of the Arts (anything is possible here, right?) for years, but very seldom has film been included in that conversation.
So all of a sudden, we're hosting three film festivals. The concept is ultra hip and there is a nice little hipster scene that might be into sitting in a dark theater to escape reality for an entire weekend. But among the Derby City Film Festival (www.derbycityfilmfest.com), Louisville's International Film Festival (www.louisvillefilmfestival.org), and the Flyover Film Festival (www.louisvillefilm.org) can there possibly be enough profit for these things to prosper and grow?
I like movies, but The Naked Gun doesn't exactly qualify as the type of fodder with which these festivals thrive. Nonetheless, I actually HAVE been to screenings at the Derby City Festival and the International Festival (both works were created by personal friends).
So I'm curious. How many of you have been to a screening at one or more of these festivals?
