Jay Farrar is one of the masterminds behind one of alternative rock and alternative country’s most defining bands…Uncle Tupelo. The band, during its 7 year tenure, Farrar and band mate Jeff Tweedy flipped the indie-rock scene on its ear by infusing the sounds of America into their music. The band had an acrimonious split in 1994, when Tweedy left to form Wilco and Farrar formed Son Volt. Their paths have continued to diverge in the two decades since.
Tonight, Farrar is coming to Louisville for a rare acoustic show, bringing Son Volt multi-instrumentalist, Gary Hunt with him. The setlist will focus mostly on his years with the critically acclaimed Son Volt, but he has been known to occasionally veer into vintage Uncle Tupelo material, as well as, songs from The New Multitudes a supergroup he formed with Louisville native Jim James of My Morning Jacket.
The show will be at Clifton Theater, tonight, April 30th @ 7:30 PM. Tickets are $23.
