Nice work, folks. With tickets still available Friday afternoon, impressively the crowd last Friday for MGMT really came out in force. It may have just been me, but they seemed more into the show than the band.
That being said, MGMT delivered a great, albeit a bit subdued performance. Kuroma opened up while most were still mingling and rolling in, but a solid sound and delivery. The crowd was pretty amped when MGMT took the stage and while I'm not into overly synthed music, they didn't disappoint with their a mix of songs both new and old.
"Kids'" banged out pretty well, of course "Electric Feel" is always a fan favorite, but some of their newer stuff was a bit under-received by the crowd. The maturation of their music has come more into the psychedelic side of the pop/rock than the electronica, which I appreciate, however it seemed most I spoke with prefer the more electronic sound. Given the success of their early album it's certainly difficult to live up to such hype, as is the case with most bands who find success early.
Overall, I dug the show and would certainly recommend seeing them should you have another chance.
