This Sunday, Christ Church United Methodist will host Ken Cowan, one of North America’s finest organists, in a recital that promises to dazzle.

Originally from Ontario, Canada, Cowan is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Yale Institute of Sacred Music.  Since then, he has toured extensively across North America, Europe and Asia, performing in noteworthy venues such as Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall, Philadelphia’s Verizon Hall and the

Center in Costa Mesa, California.  In addition, Cowan has been a featured recitalist at three national conventions of the American Guild of Organists and has performed at several conventions of the Organ Historical Society and the Royal Canadian College of Organists.

In 2012, Cowan joined the keyboard faculty of the prestigious Shepherd School of Music at Rice University as Associate Professor and head of the organ program.  Previously, he worked as Associate Professor of Organ at Westminster Choir College of Rider University where he was awarded the 2008 Rider University Distinguished Teaching Award.  Cowan also has numerous recordings on the JAV and Raven labels, most recently

The recital will begin at 7 pm on Sunday, April
