    Bit to Do

Day of the Doctor, c/o BBC
    Print this page

Not too many television programs get to boast about a fiftieth anniversary, but BBC’s Doctor Who does - this month, in fact. Those of you familiar with the Doctor probably already know this, and are eagerly awaiting the night of the 23rd, when we’ll finally get to see The Day Of The Doctor when it simulcasts all around the world.

Celebrating the fiftieth finds the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) meeting up with the 10th Doctor (David Tennant) and a lost incarnation (John Hurt). 10’s companion Rose (Billie Piper) and 11’s Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) also get involved.

I’m one of the excited masses, but when I heard that it was filmed in 3D (a format I am often skeptical of) for a limited theatrical release, I knew I had to see Tennant, Smith, Hurt, Piper and Coleman on the big screen. I’ve been waiting patiently in the hopes that there would be a Louisville location, and I’ve not waited in vain!

Unfortunately, there is one catch - there are

    very few theaters

showing it on the night of the 23rd, and Louisville isn’t on that list. For some odd reason, Fathom Events is doing a wider 3D release on the 25th, of which we’re luckily part of. I’m sure I’ll be finding a place to see it on the 23rd, but unless it’s absolutely horrid (10 and 11 and JohnHurtEightPointFive? doubtful.) I’m thinking a second viewing is in order.
