The new show, called “Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual” airs on WE-TV, the women’s cable network.  The 12-part series follows the 80’s pop music icon behind the scenes as she balances a host of new projects, as well as life as a wife and mother. Viewers will see her juggle work as a performer, Broadway composer, author, philanthropist, and wife and mother.

You may recall Lauper’s visit to Louisville last May to serve as Grand Marshall of the Pegasus Parade. She made headlines, and later apologized, when she used a certain four-letter word that was caught on an open microphone and aired on live-TV.

Lauper made the trip to the Kentucky Derby with her husband, her 14-year old son, and a television camera crew.  (Lauper’s husband is actor David Thornton.)

The singer/songwriter became successful in the early 80’s with her first album “She’s So Unusual.”  Four songs from the album soared to the top of the Billboard charts, including mega hit “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

The season premiere of “Cyndi Lauper: She’s So Unusual” airs Saturday night (January 12th) at 9:00PM ET, followed by another new episode at 9:30.  To locate the channel on your TV go to  www.wetv.com.
