For reportedly 650,000 attendees at the 2014 Thunder over Louisville Festival, it couldn't have been a more perfect day. While everyone got progressively more sunburned, and bored-looking law enforcement officials stood around in clumps of six or eight, the Great Lawn and riverfront restaurants filled up to watch the air show and the fireworks show.
The park lawn looked great, especially given all the rain we've had lately, but soon, you couldn't see it anyway, for the crowds.
The Blue Angels were the star of the air show.
Yay! The first opportunity to visit the Chow Wagon, which has expanded and will be the place to be during the Kentucky Derby Festival.
A big attraction at Ford's Thunder on the Ground was kid-friendly activities, like bungee bouncing.
You know you've seen a great fireworks show when even the old folks are raving about it (we've seen a lot of fireworks in our day, is my point).
Gorgeous day, gorgeous show. (We won't talk about the drive home. We just won't.)
