The Crane House Young Professionals will be hosting a night market of sorts this Saturday, presenting some truly authentic Asian cuisine: ramen.

Not the salty, microwaveable, college dorm noodles you’re thinking of, though. The Asia Institute will be serving up authentic hot ramen and ice cold boba tea to benefit its efforts to strengthen cultural diversity in Louisville.

The Asia Institute Crane House (or AICH) is devoted to helping Asian communities in Kentucky and southern Indiana share and preserve their heritage, according to the institute’s website. It does this through educational programs, business programs, lectures, performances and art exhibitions.

Crane House has striven to include all Asian nationalities in its efforts, working for the cultures and peoples of China, Japan, India, Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bhutan, Nepal, Taiwan, the Philippines and Central Asia.

The night market will feature many of the signature foods and entertainment of these cultures. Korean food provided by Charim will be for sale, as will sushi and Vietnamese coffee.

During the event, the Crane House will also exhibit beautiful photography from Asian and Asian American artists in the community, and guests can enjoy music as they experience their authentic ramen dishes.

The event is presented by the Crane House Young Professionals and will be held August 15, 6 – 10 p.m. at Asia Institute Crane House (1244 S. Third Street). Tickets are still available for $10 single bowl meals and $15 all you can eat vegan and vegetarian meals. Boba tea will be available for $5. Tickets are going fast, so grab them here while you still can.
