Summer is here, and that means one thing: The ghost of Colonel Harland Sanders will rise from his grave with an army of clones, and shall march down NuLu to reclaim what was once theirs.
Okay, not really, but there will be a number of Colonels leading a march down East Market Street beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon for the inaugural March of the Colonels. The event is in celebration of WHY Louisville’s eighth year of operation. Just to keep this march – and Louisville in general – truly weird, the colonels will all follow a wax figure of the famed fried chicken restaurateur mounted on his trusty remote-controlled Hoveround; the entire contingent of colonels, decked out in the required black string ties and white colonial blazers, will form “The Bucket” around the waxy effigy.
To take part in this event, RSVP through the march’s Facebook event page. Those who prefer not to dress like the Colonel are free to march behind the clones. Children will receive a printed colonel bib, available at WHY Louisville’s location at 806 E Market St. The route will begin at the NuLu store and end at Garage Bar one block west of where it all began; the Hoveround can only go so far before the batteries die.
