After unpacking, scouting out the nearest Duane Reade, and beginning the days with a few handfuls of glitter in the air, Chic Geek have arrived at New York Fashion Week. We began our day with a 50-block trek to 63rd Street just in time for a personality drink and check-in at Farah Angsana.

If you haven't heard of Ms. Angsana, get your google on. This Indonesian-born Designer grew up in Los Angeles, studied in London, logged three years in Paris, and now resides in Switzerland. After getting over jet lag, Ms. Ansana found time to create a gorgeous collection inspired by the glamorous life of a woman traveling across Brazil.

The collection began with an ivory and silver beaded tulle gown, setting the tone for the rest of the collection. What followed was a mix of splashy, flowy resort wear and blinged out cocktail shifts and black-tie evening gowns. We adored the bright colors for a yacht party or a spring break trip to St. Barth's. Bring the Amazonian tropics to Louisville with bright prints and delicate beading. While the cocktail dresses kept to neutrals, there were two standout looks with neon beading and a fun bold print.

We had a quick break at a Rosa Mexicano and tottered on our stilettos and Frye boots back to our second show, a delightful Reem Acra. Acra describes the collection as a defined and compelling statement on modern femininity. Inspired by a series of Aaron Young's series of motorcycle-inspired works, tread prints spiced up clean lines and well-cut basics. But Chic Geek can't be too-cool all the time, and for that, Reem Acra has us covered there too. From sleek and sexy evening gowns, dripping with gold and silver accents to luxe jumpsuits, Reem Acra is dressing for the kind of nights you want to have. We adored the casual opulence and the fresh take on ombré (we thought ombré was tired until Acra).

After taking off our heels, getting some delicious West Village fare at Rissotteria (you've not had risotto until you've had their gluten-free indulgences), we're relaxing with some Pinot and planning the rest of our blogs for Chic Geek's journey to Fashion Week.

Stay tuned for our fashion week recap where we will let you know where to find all of Spring 2013 collections at our local retailers.

    Fashionably yours,

    Chic Geek
