It appears that 4th Street Live is making some changes.
The ill-conceived downtown monstrosity that opened over a decade ago, has seemingly up until now, consistently been out of step with the tempo of our rapidly evolving city.
The biggest and most recent news is that both Maker’s Mark Lounge and Sully’s will be closing. In fact, Saturday June 27th was the last night of business for Maker’s Mark, and Sully’s will follow in closing its doors in September.
Maker’s will be replaced by what is described as a raw bar that as of now remains unnamed. And Sully’s will be replaced by a gastro-bub concept that will feature wood fired pizzas and gourmet hamburgers, it too has yet to be named.
Also, in recent news they have announced businesses moving into the spaces that were once occupied by The Pub and Ri-Ra’s, both of which have remained glaringly vacant on the street for several years. Both remain unnamed, as well. The Ri-Ra’s space will follow a farm fresh, straight to the dinner table concept; while in The Pub’s former location will be chef-driven Southern cooking.
To further prove they are trying to keep up with Louisville’s local vibe, they have said that at least two of the new restaurant will be run by “local restauranteurs.”
These four restaurants will join the previously announced Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse, in opening up on 4th Street Live – all of which is expected to be up and running before Derby next Spring. All of this is part of 4th Street Live parent company Cordish’s planned $12 million in changes to update the increasingly vapid and out of touch concepts that have occupied much of the block’s occupancy since it opened in 2004. A portion of the proposed $12 million will go sprucing up the overall facility, as well; including landscaping, lighting, furniture, patios, and pavers.
