In the all-ages musical, Horton the elephant must perform multiple tasks, including protecting JoJo, his tiny friend, as well as the Whoville residents from dangers. Horton is also called upon by Mayzie La Bird to protect an abandoed egg. Soon, Horton and others face challenges of friendship, loyalty, community, and family.
