    Even though the University of Louisville men’s basketball team didn’t make it to this weekend’s NCAA Final Four, we continue our countdown of the top 101 players in the 101 seasons of Cardinals hoops. This installment is a look at Nos. 31-40 (in reverse order).

    40. Jerry Eaves (1978-82) - The 6-foot-4 point guard ranks 34th on the all-time scoring list (1,250/9.7 ppg). In his career he shot 50.5 percent from the field, 71.4 percent from the free throw line and recorded 338 assists (2.6 per game). The Cards went 101-30 (a 77.1 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by the ‘80 national championship and also included a Final Four appearance in ‘82.

    39. Everick Sullivan (1988-92) - The 6-5 guard is the program’s 16th all-time leading scorer (1,583 points/12.6 ppg). The athletic guard was the team’s second-leading scorer as a junior (15.6 ppg) and its leading scorer as a senior (13.7 ppg). The Cards went 84-44 (a 65.6 winning percentage) in his four seasons that were highlighted by a trip to the NCAA’s Sweet 16 his freshman year.

    38. John Reuther (1962-65) - The 6-7 forward-center ranks 30th on the all-time scoring list (1,346/18.2 ppg) and grabbed 780 rebounds (10.5 rpg) in his career. He averaged a double-double in each of his three seasons - 16.2 ppg and 10.3 rpg as a sophomore, 19.6 ppg and 10.2 rpg as a junior and 18.8 ppg and 11.1 rpg as a senior. The Cards went 44-31 (a 58.7 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which was highlighted by a trip to the NCAA Tournament his junior year.

    37. Earl Clark (2006-09) - The versatile 6-10 forward ranks 54th on the all-time scoring list (1,104/10.6 ppg) and near the Top 15 in rebounding (728/7 rpg) despite playing only three seasons. “E5” left after his junior campaign, when he averaged 14.2 ppg and 8.7 rpg. The Cards went 82-25 (a 76.6 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by back-to-back Elite Eight appearances his sophomore and junior years.

    36. Charles Jones (1980-84) - The 6-8 center ranks 50th in scoring (1,124/8.7 ppg), 15th in rebounding (813/6.3 ppg) and third all-time in blocked shots (208). His senior season was his best, when he averaged 11.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game while shooting 56.8 percent from the field. The Cards went 100-34 (a 74.6 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by back-to-back Final Four appearances in ‘82 and ‘83.

    35. Mike Grosso (1967-70) - The 6-9 center is tied for 14th all-time in rebounds (838) - and his career average of 14.2 per game ranks third - despite playing in only 59 games due to injury. Grosso had two fabulous final seasons. He averaged 15.7 points and 16 rebounds per game as a junior and 18.6 points and 13.9 rebounds as a senior. The Cards went 60-22 (a 73.2 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by an Missouri Valley Conference title, two trips to the NIT and one to the NCAA Tournament his sophomore year.

    34. Bob Lochmueller (1949-52) - The 6-5 forward ranks 36th on the all-time scoring list (1,218/15 ppg) despite playing only three seasons. He averaged 19 ppg as a junior and 17 as a senior. The Cards went 60-24 (a 71.4 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by one trip to the NCAA Tournament and one trip to the NIT.

    33. Rick Wilson (1974-78) - The 6-4 swingman ranks 25th on the all-time scoring list (1,428/12.6 ppg) and 10th all-time in assists (419/3.7 apg). Wilson was second on the squad in scoring as a sophomore, junior and senior, averaging 17.8 ppg in the latter. The Cards went 92-25 (78.6 winning percentage) in his four seasons, which were highlighted by one Missouri Valley Conference title, one Metro title, three trips to the NCAA Tournament and one Final Four (‘75) his freshman season.

    32. Bud Olsen (1959-62) - The 6-8 forward, and future Athletic Director, ranks 41st on the all-time scoring list (1,192 points/14.9 ppg) and also grabbed 761 rebounds (9.5 rpg) despite playing only three seasons. He averaged 20.8 points and grabbed 13.2 rebounds per game his senior season. The Cards went 51-29 (a 63.8 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by an NCAA Tournament appearance his junior year.

    31. Gorgui Dieng (2010-13) - The 6-11 center (pictured above) was a bit of project when he arrived, but he left Louisville as a first-round NBA Draft pick. Dieng, who tallied 851 points (8.3 ppg) and 801 rebounds (7.9 rpg) in his career, ranks second all-time in blocked shots (267) and holds the all-time single-season blocked shot record (128). The Cards went 90-25 (a 78.3 winning percentage) in his three seasons, which were highlighted by the 2013 national title.
