Saturday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Louisville Water Tower, the Louisville Independent Business Alliance and Grasshoppers Distribution will hold their fifth annual Buy Local Fair, featuring numerous local retailers, musicians, artists and more under the shadow of the iconic tower. The event saw over 6,000 attendees last year, with the organizers hoping to add more to the attendance figures in 2013.

A whole slew of activities is in store for all who visit the fair Saturday, including a live hydroponics display and Water Trivia Duck Pond for the little ones, guided tours of the water tower and steam engine by Louisville Water, a cooking competition between MilkWood chef Kevin Ashworth and RYE on Market chef Joe Banet, and a performance by local rockers Nerves Junior, who will be headlining with Gideon’s Rifle and Thirty Spokes.

As far as finding food and beverage are concerned, Grind, Johnny’s Diner Car, Lil Cheezers and Sweet'N'Savory are some of the food vendors on hand, while ValuMarket will be sponsoring a craft beer tent featuring brews from BBC, Falls City, Apocalypse Brew Works and more. Some of the numerous vendors in attendance include Art Eatables, Black Dog Candles, Comedy Caravan, The Hanger, Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Revelry Boutique.

After the festivities end at the water tower, MilkWood at Actors Theatre of Louisville will host an afterparty from 9 to 10:30 p.m. in the mezzanine lobby at Actors Theatre on 316 W. Main St. A ticket will net free food and a single complementary beverage per ticketholder, with a cash bar also available. Free tickets to the party can be had by visiting the Welcome & Information Tent the day of the fair, while supplies last.
