For the first time, Bristol Catering will offer pre-ordered to-go meals for Kentucky Derby gatherings May 2. All food will be prepped, cooked and packaged, ready to warm and serve at home. Custom-created menus for at least 20 people may include Hot Brown casserole, house-smoked pork, maple-cured salmon, grits and party trays. All orders must be pre-paid and placed before 4 p.m. on Monday, April 27. Meals will be available for pick-up Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to noon.
All Derby party meals will be prepared by the newest addition to Bristol Catering, chef Richard Doering, who has served as executive chef at the Bristol Bar and Grille in Jeffersonville, since 2008. Doering specializes in Pacific Rim fusion cuisine and finds inspiration from the bright, fresh flavors of Vietnamese cooking. He is excited to bring this particular vision and years of experience to Bristol Catering.
