    Bit to Do

An unintentionally found bad review sends actors and others in a whirl in Amateurs, a Wayward Actors production that begins this weekend at Kentucky Center for the Arts.

Amateurs will take place on Feb. 18, 19, 25, and 26 at 8 p.m. each night.  A matinee show will go on at 2 p.m. on Feb. 27.  All shows will occur in the Mex Theater at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.

Tickets for shows are $16 each.  To purchase, call 502-584-7777, go to the Kentucky Center box office, or go online to the Kentucky Center website.  The show will last two hours, counting intermission.  Keep in mind the show has adult language and themes.

Amateurs features an after-party following the opening night of an acting troupe's lastest musical.  Dorothy and Charlie have a guest list that involves many actors and friends, including Paul, a local theatre critic.

During the party, Paul has a heart attack and is sent to the hospital, dropping his unpublished review of the show in the process. When the rest of the party finds the scathing review, the party turns to one involving reactions, dreams, and an understanding of who they are as actors and in life.

The Amatuers cast includes Candy Thomas as Dorothy, Tom Pettey as Charlie, Bryce Blair as Nathan Monroe, Carrie Cooke as Jennifer Collins, Tim Curtsinger as Wayne Seabury, Meredith McBride as Mona Williams, Michael McCollum as Ernie Chilmark, Leah Taylor as Irene Chilmark, and Joey Arena as Paul Cortland. Janet Morris directed the production.

Tom Griffin created the Amateurs production.  More information on this and other Griffin shows can be found at this website.

More information on the Wayward Actors show can also be found on the Kentucky Center website.
