Like Executiveprivilege, Dreaming of Julia enters the Breeders’ Cup undefeated. In her last start, the Todd Pletcher runner won the one mile Frizette Stakes (G1) at Belmont (Oct. 6) by a head. Prior to that, in the ungraded Meadow Star Stakes, Dreaming of Julia bested the field by over 16 lengths. She retains jockey John Velazquez who already has 11 Breeders’ Cup victories under his belt.
Pletcher will send out another filly that, assuming she wants the distance, stands a chance to take down Executiveprivilege. Kauai Kate is undefeated in three starts, all sprints. The daughter of Malibu Moon broke her maiden at Santa Anita and won the Adirondack (G2) (Aug. 12) at the California track. Her last victory came in the six furlong Matron Stakes (G2) at Belmont (Sept. 30) in which she finished 7 ½ lengths in front of the field in a hand ride. Regular rider Rosie Napravnik, who won this year’s edition of the Kentucky Oaks, retains the mount.
Rounding out the field is Spring in the Air, Broken Spell, Almost an Angel, and Renee’s Queen.
The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies is the seventh on Santa Anita’s Friday Breeders’ Cup card with a scheduled post time of 6:08 p.m. EST. The race can be seen on HRTV, TVG, NBC Sports Network and will be streamed live at www.breederscup.com and on the Breeders’ Cup iPad and iPhone app.
