The Bourbon Women, started in 2010, have steadily gained popularity over the last few years. They’ve hosted a retreat and a Sip-osium as well as many other fundraising events. They have members all over the country and have even held events at the Governor’s Mansion. The membership roster is a veritable who’s-who of women in the bourbon community, with over 500 members in 23 states and 3 countries.
Because of their growing popularity, The Bourbon Women will be opening up chapters in Chicago, Indianapolis, and New York over the next several months. The first new chapter will be opened this month in Indianapolis, and the Chicago and New York chapters are expected to form in the fall of this year. President Susan Reigler will be joined by branch managers at each of the new locations. These branch managers will be responsible for providing regional events for their members.
According Bourbon Women President Susan Reigler, ““It’s not at all surprising that bourbon is becoming so popular with both women and men around the country, and even around the world. It’s a whiskey filled with complex flavors and each has a story and history, making it all that much more interesting to sample and discuss.” Reigler is the author of Kentucky Bourbon Country: The Essential Travel Guide and co-author of The Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book.
Once established, all branches will come together in Louisville in August for the second annual Sip-Osium. This promises to be an excellent event for all bourbon lovers as well as a great asset to Louisville’s already strong culture of bourbonism.
