The Bourbon Review Shindig: Celebrating Bourbon And Horses
    Print this page

The nice thing about being a bourbon fan in Kentucky is there’s never a shortage of things to do.  There’s some great bourbon-related event every week, and each one seems to top the other.  Saturday night I attended the Bourbon Review Shindig at Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, and it exceeded even my high expectations.

Nothing says Kentucky quite like bourbon and thoroughbred horses, but I had never been to a bourbon event at a horse farm.  Somehow bourbon and horses and the peacefulness of being out in the middle of nowhere just makes sense.

The environment was casual, with the Billy Goat Strut Revue providing live entertainment.  Distilleries had tables where they offered their best cocktails as well as pours of their best whiskeys.  There was a shrimp and grits chef making the dish to order, as well as a DIY biscuit bar.  Perhaps one of the most fun things available was a chocolate covered strawberry that was injected with Michter’s on demand.  Add to that bourbon ball mini cupcakes, fried green tomato crostini, and grits fritters.  The upscale Southern cuisine added to the charm of the event.

The Bourbon Review Shindig was put on by the Bourbon Review, the same folks who are responsible for the Bourbon Classic each winter in Louisville.  It’s clear at this point they really know how to put together a top notch event, planning everything perfectly right down to the food and décor.

Tickets for the next Bourbon Classic are already on sale, but you’ll have to wait until next summer for the next Bourbon Review Shindig.
